A young girl is affected by the death of her mother, and can only relate to the world through a mask. Shaped by a vision of the afterlife in which she believes she is visited by her mother's spirit,she confronts her world with a new sense of purpose.

In a tale that alludes to the haunting traditions of the Japanese Ghost story, KABUKI spans Japan's history and future, explores the underworlds of organized crime, a clandestine government agency, the WWII Comfort Women, Japan's indigenous Ainu people, and a woman's quest to come to terms with her family, history, culture, and the death of her mother.

The epilogue to Kabuki-Circle of Blood, Kabuki - Dreams is a mix of Japanese mythology and a modern near death experience. Kabuki, an operative of the Noh, has disappeared. Her quest to come to terms with her history has put her in direct conflict with the powers she serves. The other Noh Agents are sent to search for her. The trail leads the through a labyrinth of corporate espionage, conflicting government agencies, and the Japanese underworld.

Operatives from a government agency in Japan shake down Japan's criminal underworld in an effort to track down a rogue agent who used to be their ally.

 

Vol. 4 Kabuki - SKIN DEEP

A woman whose face is horribly scarred finds herself in an institution for "defective" government agents where she is interrogated to find out if she ("Kabuki") is hiding something to do with the nature of her scars or if she is simply crazy. Isolated and psychologically tormented, the only friend she ever had is found in a mystery woman who sends her mysterious handwritten notes that are folded into origami animals. She feels a new sense of identity and self worth that someone can see beyond her scars. But is it just another trick?

In an institution for defective government agents, a horribly scarred woman faces a psychological showdown with her interrogating analyst, meets the other "defective" operatives, discusses the nature of Identity, Quantum Physics, time, and the meaning of life. But can she escape her captors before her former comrades track her down to silence her?
