Photos from Isotope's SF Tiki Tour (56k beware!)

Since the ancient days of yore, the great tiki gods above made blessed the beautiful city of San Francisco with such an over-abundance of watering holes of the tiki variety that it makes others weep with fruity cocktail and indoor rainfall envy. And so for half a decade the Isotope honors the great Island Lords by paying tribute upon the bar stools of the city's many tiki bars.

Legend tells that those who can complete the tour are granted the wonderous gift of never-hangover... but no man or woman has ever managed to master the great tour of tiki. The brave still try, as we did last night, and here is the evidence of our attempt for your viewing pleasure.

Hosted by yours truly, with backup by Tour Guide Josh Richardson, production coordinator at comic publisher AIT-PlanetLar (do take note that as the official Tour Guide Mister Richardson gets more than a few fringe benefits). Upon arrival at our first destination SF's Bamboo Hut each Tiki Tour attendee was issued with a passport to pleasure!

"Okay dudes, I'm Josh your tour guide. By accepting this passport you release us from liability from anything or anyone you may do tonight. If you have any questions or need any help sweet talking the ladies, you know who to ask, right?"

Scarface & Puffed artist Dave Crosland shows off his famous double-fisted tiki drink technique.

A toast from Ash as we hit our second stop on the tour.

Kelly checks out the video strip tease trivia game. Shake it baby, shake it!

Avery G sporting his tropical island best.

Cheers Janet, dig that blue hawaiian!

Oh look who has arrived, Tiki God Pete Mortensen!

Cheers to the great god of tiki!

"As Tour Guide I not only have to get my passport signed by the bartender like everyone else, but it is my sworn duty to get as much tiki love as humanly possible."

A kiss from the bartender kicks Josh's night off just right...

... a little leg from Anita...

... a smooch from Smoke & Guns author Kirsten Baldock...

... and a man hug from Avery!

The great Tiki says "More drinking is required!"

Kimra and her mai tai keep the island gods happy.

We tore up stop #2! And I think the following pictures pretty much speak for themselves.

This couple we didn't even know, but after getting to lay a smooch on our Tour Guide she was determined to follow us to whatever and wherever our next stop was... and her fella certainly wasn't letting her hang around us without a chaperone so he tagged along too. Ash thinks their names were Naham and Kathy.

"Welcome to Tiki Bar #3! Enjoy the super-strong drinks those bartenders are pouring!"

Stop #3 is the world-famous Tonga Room, one of the greatest tiki bars on the planet. Be sure to be under a thatched roof when you hear the thunder and see the lightning... because at the Tonga Room it rains.

Friend to comic creators with names like "Grant Morrison" "Rob Liefeld" and "Chris Claremont" the mighty Ken Kniesel arrives on the scene in high style and we move onto stop #4...

... where we create quite the sensation...

... and we still have that couple we picked up at bar #2 still in tow!

Last call comes far too early for some, far too late for others... did anyone see what girl that darn Tour Guide ended up with?

Goodnight San Francisco!

We're talking about it, I *love* hanging out in Chicago.

Is the longest running musical in Chicago history Co-Ed Prison Sluts still going on? I definitely gotta go to that again!

Absolutely! Next time you're in SF we'll have to schedule one.

Start your heavyweight liver training now, cos the tiki tour is rough!
