I'm surprised.. I didn't think I'd like it based on the preview..
To explain..
From the preview, I thought it was some alien from another universe exploring.. which, to me, was pretty off from the original intent of the "world outside your window" concept.
Anyways, long story short, this comic had a lot of advanced concepts I didn't expect, and they actually worked.
- Quantum mechanics/Multiple World/Schroedinger's Cat
- Metatextual (think Animal Man)
And it's interesting to consider the idea that the Starbrand draws on power from multiple universes at once. As far as I know, this concept hasn't been explored in a superhero before has it?
Great setup, and it goes a long way to fixing some of the earlier series mistakes (admittedly at the time they didn't seem to bother me, but in retrospect I can see it). I also enjoyed how they explained why PITT/Black Event happened.
Here's hoping Ellis' newuniversal manages to keep things going with this direction. I've got high hopes for the new ongoing. I just hope Psi-Force gets utilized in the new series.
