Houston ComicPalooza in March! Who is going?

I'll have The Alchemy, prints, original artwork and more.
Let me know if there is something you would like me to bring.

Who will we see at the convention?

I think this is their first 3 day show.
At a bigger venue.
Should be fun.

Re: Houston ComicPalooza in March! Who is going?

I will be there again.
This year will not be a free event to go along with Free Comic Book Day
And it will not be held in a desolate wing of a mall (though the foot traffic was pretty nice) this year will be in the main convention center for Houston

I'll have to flip through some books to see if there is any art that I would want. Though if the original page where my avatar comes from is available, I'm pretty sure buying that would make me the greatest husband ever.

I'm not sure if I have that exact page. But I may have some pages from that sequence or around it.
I'll try to bring quite a few things to choose from.

They updated the front page of their site to include recent announcements, and I thought what they put about you is particularly nice:

"One of the most talented men in comics will soon be in Houston! World-renowned artist/writer David Mack will be appearing at Comicpalooza 2010. David burst onto the scene with his revolutionary creator-owned book Kabuki and has since worked on such major books as Daredevil and The New Avengers. He has also written children’s books and toured the world exhibiting his work in galleries and museums. Come and say hello to one of the nicest and most creative guys in comics."

I will see both of you and all of your friends there- thanks!
The people who run that show have been very kind to me, and seem like wonderful people.
Looking forward to the show. And it is much bigger than last time: Jim Mahfood there, Ethan Van Sciver, an entire crew of fantastic creators...

Houston used to have a great comic venues in the 90's before comics took a nosedive. Now I'm hoping things get better and this gives me hope

If a LOT of people turn out for this event in Houston this March, that could make this con stick around as a big Houston comics event each year...
I'd love it

Last year they did a screening of The Alchemy of Art with the director on the panel afterwards...

And we did a bunch of drawing for benefit auction...
it was fun.

I got to know a lot of good creators last year and really have time to talk with them and get to know them on a personal friend level.
It was a great show for that.
Even David Thornton of davidmackguide.com was there in person for that.
It was pretty cool.

One of the downsides of having the bigger show at the convention center, you don't have the great Alamo Drafthouse to screen anything in. It really added a nice level of intimacy to the screenings that I have never had at another convention.

It would be nice if Greg Jurls had a new film to show this year, I would certainly make that a priority over anything else happening during the convention.

And when I say intimate, I mean the Drafthouse is just the perfect setting for any type of screening/Q&A
