Another important “Sinister Spider-Man” character is looking to stop Mac’s plans, but his reasons for doing so are much more altruistic than Osborn’s. This character’s name isn’t Peter Parker, though. “[Marc’s] also going to run into a gentlemen, a new character, who that thinks that even the most evil people can be saved and they’re going to have a bit of a chat,” Reed hinted.
That's possible. Bachalo also did that story in Extra! on Anti-Venom, but is he really a "new character"?
I thought about that and sometimes people do use "new" instead of "recent".
I'd say Anti-Venom is still fairly new.
Fits the description to a T but yes, the wording makes me feel it's more than likely somebody completely new but I'm hoping it's Eddie (who will have his own DR tie-in soon but still).

Anti-Venom appeared for the first time in 2008, right?

As the "partnership" between Spider-Man and Mayor J. Jonah Jameson gets worse by the day, learn a few of Mac Gargan's Spider-Man life lessons: if you bite someone's arm off, they will come back with a robot arm and try to kill you, as the Redeemer makes his move. Brian Reed and Chris Bachalo help you learn from Mac's mistakes.
