Comic store clerk shot near Grand Rapids

The cops are being uncooperative with information at this point, but it appears that the owner, a guy named Dave, was the victim.
Dave runs a nice store with a very good selection.

KENTWOOD -- Police are investigating a shooting and robbery of an employee at Apparitions Comics and Books, at 2757 Ridgemoor Drive SE.

Authorities were releasing little information about the 7 p.m. Friday shooting. The victim's name and condition were not released, nor were Kentwood police giving out any information about the suspect.

The victim was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital.

The store is located off 28th Street near Woodland Mall.

That's terrible. One of my worst fears working retail where anyone can come in the door.

That totally sucks. Here's hoping it wasn't a dispute over some bullshit comic related thing. The only thing worse than being shot would be being shot for not buying a box full of some dudes old Youngblood comics.

I have good friends in and around Grand Rapids. This kinda sucks.

Any way you can keep an eye on this and see how this guy is doing?

He's one of our own. Right? So, maybe there should be a fund-raiser. Most comic shops don't offer medical insurance to their employees, after all.

I will. I know he's not married and I think he has limited family ties. I work right done the street from the hospital he is at, I'll stop in and let him know people are thinking about him.
The owner is in critical condition at this time.
I'll provide updates as they become available.
