Wait, so when he calls out other artists, its ok, but when he calls out our buddy David Mack, it's wrong? That's crazy. Listen, I'm let down by Mack's swipes, but it doesn't make me like his work any less.

And the industry needs a Rich Johnston sometimes, to keep things in check.

I'd be more letdown if Rich gave David Mack a pass. Keep it up, Rich.

Doesn't he say in this weeks' column that the "Swipe File" is judgment free? Like even if Mack paid professional artists to take those model photos, it would still end up in the Swipe File. He's not saying anything's stolen or ripped off.

The only problem I have with him is that I get tired of his personal views being interjected into the column. It is his and I read it anyway, but that is my personal critique.

He is pretty fair with the swipe file. I do not have any problem with artists using a pose as inspiration. I personally draw the line when the artists is clearly tracing a person's face in the comic. The people who come to mind are Larocca, Land and Del Torro. Iron Man looks like the actor's guild sometimes.
