Moving to other imprints, Quesada announced that Orson Scott Card will write a new, exclusive Ender's Game story that will only appear in the Red Prophet hardcover collection which collects the first six issues in July. The story will be called "The Gold Bug."
what is Red Prophet and why is no one talking of this?
I'd say that I'm saddened rather than bothered by the very concept of religion regardless of what it affects. Kind of the same way I'm saddened to see Twilight movies be blockbusters or Rob Liefeld books sell like crazy.
Red Prophet is one of the Tales of Alvin Maker by Card, currently one of the Dabel Brothers comic adaptations published thru Marvel.
It's a pretty decent series. I like Card's writing for the most part. Some great SF and fantasy from him.
He's controversial because of some of his opinions. He's a (practicing? devout? former?) Mormon, and has a few socially conservative leanings.
I know it does for some, but I never felt a person's political or personal views effected my enjoyment of their work. I still like Mel Gibson films, EVS comics, and other stuff. Personal beliefs, as long as they don't come through in the finished product, can remain personal for all the shit I give.

It's not necessarily about effecting your enjoyments of their work, it's about supporting an artist who holds personal beliefs you despise. For example: BlahBlahBlah may be a great movie, you think you'll enjoy the movie even, but you know a racist bastard made it so you stop yourself from watching it. You know you can watch plenty of other great movies that aren't by that racist bastard.

I believe most people are bastards if you get to know them, its just a matter of ignoring it.

Ender's Game is my favorite book of his, but Tales of Alvin Maker is on the whole a much better series.
I don't generally like comic adaptations of prose novels, but if it's an original story I'll give it a shot (although Ender sequels are pretty hit and miss, and much more frequently miss).

Much as I like some of his earlier work, I will never ever pay money to watch a Roman Polanski movie. I will not rent, buy or pay to see one of his movies in the theater.
However, I steal cable, so if one of his movies that I likes comes on, I'll give it a watch.
However, I still gladly buy OSC's books (if they interest me). I guess I don't hold gay-bashers to the same standard as pedophiles.
That last sentence sounded a lot more dickish than intended. I don't have anything against anyone who avoids his shit because of his views or statements or whatever, I just don't feel the same way about this situation.

Bah! Don't mistake catching somebody on a grumpy day with them being bastards. The opinion is that the glass is half-full or half-empty. The truth is that the glass is half-full and half-empty.
