"Show, don't tell" . Next time be prepared . Show them a nice sketch and that should do the trick.

Back when the cartoon was out I actually liked Spider-Woman more than Spider-Man. Part of the reason was the costume.
I also think that right now tha costume let's the casual reader know that it's Jessica Drew, not any of the other Spider-Ladies we've had.
