I agree with Mike Black and his comments about Christ Illusions being flat and what he said about this one... I have been dying to get it since they release Psychopathy Red...
anyway this record leaked about 2 weeks ago... listened to it quite a few times and right now I have no problem listing it up there along the lines of South of Heaven.
Hate Worldwide is an Anthem!
that said I will be going to the store to pick up the delux release today...
I'm going to go on record that while Hate Worldwide is fucking killer, Public Display of Dismemberment might have just made my list of top 10 Slayer songs.
Amazing album. If this was to be their last album, they would be going out with a big bang with a very solid album.
Dave's drumming is just phenomenal!!!
That's sort of what they said. As reported previously, this was to be their final album. However, after they recorded it, listened to the playback, and thought about it they realized that A.) they still kick ass, B.) they're into doing two more after this before taking stock and going "Ok, do we want to close up shop?"
Christ Illusion may not be the first album you put in when you feel like listening to Slayer, but you gotta admit, the first time you put that record on, it was pretty fuckin' awesome. That unrelenting wall of sound was a pretty spectacular way of saying, "We're back!"

Really enjoying the new one so far.
Don't get me wrong, even a bad Slayer album is alot more listenable than most other albums. But in the grander scheme of the Slayer library it falls short. It's solid, but forgettable. I mean, atleast God Hates Us All had....well, "God Hates Us All...God Hates Us All...God Hates Us All".

Thinking about the new one coming out, I decided to listen to Slayer last night. And I decided to put on Diabolus, 'cuz I never listen to it. And lo', I could be heard to remark, "You know, this really isn't very good."
However, it does have the repeated "Antichrist is the name of God" which at least comes close to "God hates us all"...
