Re: Large Hadron Collider
the BBC is calling this Big Bang Day.
Oi.
It'll be ironic as hell if Sweden explodes though.

Re: Large Hadron Collider
If there is a influx of superpowered Swiss after this experiment, I'm moving to Switzerland to get me some flight powers.

Re: Large Hadron Collider
Well, the beam just completed it's first circle and we are all still alive.
Yay.
Also, no head crabs.
Good start.

Yeah, it would be really ironic if Sweden exploded since the LHC is in Switzerland.

By Thor countries do you mean Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark?
Switzerland is further south between France and Italy.
(oh, and Finland didn't have Thor and Odin but Vainamoinen and Jukkohainen)

Re: Large Hadron Collider
Was anyone able to watch the live feed from CERN? The live feed web page said that too many people were trying to watch it. I tried to load it all night. No luck.
If I was running a massive experiment that could potentially create microscopic black holes and strangelets, and people were panicking world-wide,
(

I would probably try to reassure them by competently running a live video feed on a website.
NBC streamed up to a dozen sports at once for two weeks on their website including things like "handball."
It's not like it takes a rocket scientist to stream a simple live video feed... oh, shit. We are so fucked.

Re: Large Hadron Collider
Anyway, the real experiment in which the particles collide isn't for another two weeks.
I wonder how many people tried to load that video feed and when there was nothing but a blank screen thought: "Why isn't the video streaming? Is it because Europe got sucked into a black hole?"
