Know how to heat a bathtub of water without a water heater?

Our water heater seems to have finally died, and we are now without hot water. We won't be able to get someone out here to look at it until at least Monday, and the water is fucking freezing.
Anybody know of some trick to heat up a tub of water?

My mom used to have to boil water on the stove to give me and my sisters baths... so there's that.

See, I just tried that and it didn't do a thing to the temperature. I'm not sure if I have enough pots to do the job, but I guess I'll give it another shot.

    Thanks.

We went without hot water for a year. For baths we'd boil the kettle and whatever pans we had. Many trips up and down the stairs.

Or you could rub your hands together really fast in the water and hope that warms it up?

Go buy or borrow a cheap, LARGE pot. It'll take a while to boil but it'll save you running back and forth. Don't put too much cold water in the tub at first, maybe a quarter of what you'd normally use and when you add the hot water you can then see if you need to heat more water or add cold to cool it.

You can also try 'bird baths', where you just wash out of a basin/bucket using a cloth. Works pretty well.

    Fart in the Tub.

It will warm the water and you'll get a jacuzzi.

Back in high school, we used these handheld immersion heaters in physics class that were basically a little heating element with a handle. I don't know how well they'd work (and they'd probably be kind of dangerous if you had young kids in the house), but they would have to be pretty cheap. However, I'm having trouble finding examples online of what I'm talking about.

I don't know how cost-efective it is, but this always works for me......
