I like the first one the best, but see little difference between the first one and the second one.

I figure it could be fun to get people's input, other than just other creators, so here goes.
One of my COPs next year is Planet of the Dinosaurs. It basically juxtaposes 1950s sci fi like bubble helmets with 1950s politics like McCarthyism. The book is obviously retro visually, but isn't written satirically or retro -- but is straight forward about astronauts trying to survive their politics and dinosaurs. So we're approaching coloring it now, and we have a few different options.
First is kind of Kirby and flat-like. I'd like the printing dots to be me visible on this to sell the idea.

Next is a bit pop arty, but again, I think it needs a visual anchor to say it's pop arty.
Then we have more toward a movie poster look.
And finally, a couple modern takes.

I like the first or the second one much better than the third & fourth...
Do you guys like the first in general or because it's more in line with the idea or both?
I too can't tell much of a difference between the first and second. I kind of like the first modern best.
"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix, angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night," - Allen Ginsberg
I liked the 2 modern ones, but the first one was to dark imo on the top and bottoms panels, and the 2nd one wasnt dark enuff.
I know, I know, no one is ever happy. sorry.

I like the very last example.
