The Gorn episode is the greatest episode of Star Trek: TOS.
NOTHING captured my imagination as a young 'un more than that particular ep.
This episode was on last night. Is this the greatest of all the original episods, or does "The Terrible Trouble with Tribbles" win out?
I'm going with the Gorn, if for no other reason than because there were giant diamonds just laying around on the planet for Kirk to use as projectiles.

That said, I perefer "Balance of Terror" (the first visual encounter with the Romulans)
The Gorn episode was surpassed by the Darmok episode of TNG so it loses its luster. The best TOS featured the giant world-eating machine.
It's a good one, no doubt. Not nearly as good as many, but real good none the less.
Eps I'd rank higher:
Piece of the Action. THE all time best. "I'd advise youse to keep dialin', Oxmyx!"
Spectre of the Gun. I just love the surrealism of that sets.
Balance of Terror. Best Submarine combat story ever shot.
Patterns of Force. Kirk vs. Nazis! C'mon!
For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky. McCoy's finest moment.
Also deserving recognition:
The City on the Edge of Forever.
Amok Time.
Mirror, Mirror.

Spoiler:
My favorite was always "Shore Leave", when they are stuck on that planet that makes their fantasies come alive.
I also like the one where Spock pretends to betray Kirk to the Romulans. I think it eas the "Enterprise Incident." And of course the OK Corral episode.
