    Have a garage door opener?

If so, you had better start locking your door behind you. A co-worker of mine got his house broken in to. They came in the garage by sitting in the driveway until they got the correct code. They then came in the kitchen door and somehow disabled the alarm system. His neice came home and saw mud tracked all over the floor and she quitely let.

Turns out they were still in the house and bailed when they heard her closing the garage door behind her. My co-worker came home armed. Turns out he is a retired army vet of 20 years. The people were gone, and they ended up taking nothing. He said there is mud tracked all over the house though. No one was hurt thank goodness.

Better lock that door if you have a remote garage door opener.....

isn't it just common sense to lock your garage door?

the signals are easily cloned, this has been an issue for years

My garage and house are not connected. I do lock my garage door, though, 'cause I have a fridge in there and one time some kids stole my beer.

i fucked with a buddy's family like this back in high school

they didn't keep their car locked when it was in the drive way (no one did, it was the suburbs), so i just opened up the car door one day when they were out and opened up the garage door with their car control

walked right into the house and watched My Own Private Idaho on their TV, then set all the TVs to static, made all the beds, drew a bubble bath with sented candles and rose pettles (didn't take a bath, just drew one and left it there), and set the microwave to 666 without pressing start.

    then left

Hmm. Interesting. I have been wondering about the remote cloning, but I had not heard of it until now. I always lock it at night due to being paranoid, but not during the day when I leave. There goes the neighborhood...

As long as you were "threatened", you would be within your rights. I have a tea-ball bat for said event. Small and light enough to miss my property, hard enough to knock the shit out of someone.

Come into my house without my knowledge or permission, and they'll be BEGGING me to let them out.

Re: Have a garage door opener?

I found this on the website for the Genie Garage Door openers. Supposedly, they have a more secure one with 4.3 billion combinations.

What is Intellicode® and how does it work?

Intellicode® is a rolling security code technology that enhances the security of your Genie® remote-controlled garage door opener. Intellicode® is one of Genie®’s industry-first innovations and our most requested accessory.

Intellicode® offers significant advantages over conventional garage door openers that used fixed codes. These old-style openers transmit the same fixed security code each time the remote control button is pressed. Fixed codes rely on a limited number of codes. These limited fixed codes can be breached by either an unsuspecting neighbor using a controller with the same fixed code, or by hackers with less than innocent intentions.

Intellicode®’s rolling code system uses a proprietary coding system that selects a new code from 4.3 billion combinations every time the system is activated. This virtually eliminates the possibility of hacking, and helps to prevent unauthorized entry to your home through the garage.
