GOP prank phone calling voters across the country

Well, here we go again. This is more of the same disgusting behavior from the GOP. They're robo calling citizens all over the country and starting out with a message saying "Hello, This is on behalf of (Dem Candidate) and the Demoratic party" then apparently the call gets mean and nasty. When people hang up they get called again immediately. Over and over. The goal is to piss people off enough to vote for the Republican candidate instead. It's erupting into quite the little scandal already and it's only the start. Funny, how the GOP is so desperate to win they have to cheat any way they can. Here's some info...

I believe that telling the truth may be beneath either party.

I'm getting calls all weekend, including today (Sunday). I thought Sundays were off limits for phone solicitations.

True, but this is just despicable. Pawning yourself off as representing your opponent, and then proceeding to insult and speak rudely towards the constituents is a little beyond lying about the issues. It totally leaves the moral and ethical gray area behind. It's just flat out wrong.

This is just pathetic, and really reflects poorly on the GOP.

There is a small silver lining to this shameful act:

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/11/5/19137/4311

" The NRCC was calling Granite Staters on the Do-Not-Call list, which is a violation of state law, carrying a penalty of $5,000 per violation. To date, the NRCC admitted to 200,000 robocalls.

That means the NRCC is potentially facing a $100 million dollar penalty."

They'll claim that it's political speech, shielded by the FCC under Do Not Call but I think there is something in there about robo calling. This is going to be bigger than the NH scandal by a mile.

My phone gets turned off, and I am seriously considering changing my registration to an obscure third party after the primaries for future elections.

This kinda proves how the two major parties are only in it for themselves. The FCC's Do Not Call list doesn't include political campaign calls as part of the list. What makes THAT okay, but calls from Banks, Credit Card and Mortgage companies NOT okay?

For shaaaaaaame A plague on both their houses! A plague on both their houses!

Then you'll get calls from both parties. Here in Michigan there is no party registration at all, so we get calls from both sides. Tis lovely.
