I'm partial to Scarface's "The only things I got in this world are my balls and my word, and I don't break either of em for nobody."
Any line from any film that touches you particularly, because it reflects some of your views about life or whatever?
I have always been very fond of a line form 1972's Snoopy Come Home:
"Why can't we get all the people together in the world that we really like, and just stay together forever. Someone would leave. Someone would always leave, and then we have to say good-bye. I hate good-byes. You know what I need? I need more 'hellos'."
Maybe sounds cheesy and Pllyanna-ish, but I can't help feeling like that oftentimes.
I'm partial to Scarface's "The only things I got in this world are my balls and my word, and I don't break either of em for nobody."
Spoiler:
One simple line from Fight Club: "We're a generation of men raised by women."
That hit way too home for me, and caused me to re-examine much of my life.
Not a line really, but more of an action.
There's a scene in Chinatown, where Jake confronts this big ugly guy for a fight, and instead of throwing a punch, just kicks him square in the balls.
That's me. I'm not big on fighting, but if I'm going to get in a fight, you better cover your nuts - cuz its balls and run for me.
Garden State:
Andrew Largeman: You know that point in your life when you realize that the house that you grew up in isn't really your home anymore? All of the sudden even though you have some place where you can put your stuff that idea of home is gone.
Sam: I still feel at home in my house.
Andrew Largeman: You'll see when you move out it just sort of happens one day one day and it's just gone. And you can never get it back. It's like you get homesick for a place that doesn't exist. I mean it's like this rite of passage, you know. You won't have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for your kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. I miss the idea of it. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place.
Also from Fight Club:
You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” - Calvin Coolidge
That one caught me in the chest as well. I was having a conversation with my Uncle today which basically ended with us decided that my generation was the first generation of men brought up to be ashamed of our masculinity.Originally Posted by YouStayClassy
I don't get the vibe from society that it's something to be ashamed of. But I do believe ours is the first to recognize it as a lie.Originally Posted by Technofear
