The Dawn of War thing sets up setting and action very well (and is lots of fun), but I get no connection to it because it doesn't set up character. I have trouble sympathizing with the humans there because they are dumbasses. Why do you charge an army of monsters (each carrying a melee weapon) when you've got guns? And what purpose does planting the flag at that spot carry when your comrades are being gutted? Give me a reason to care about a character for half-a-second before you put him through the ringer, and I'll suspend my disbelief. (I'm guessing in the game the player takes one of the sides so the sympathy is built in?)
