Yeah, Maus. Unbelievably good, and a vitally important book. The rest of your list is quite good but this is essential.

Perhaps thats true of some people, I have no idea and would certainly never suggest anything like that.

I'm just a huge Maus fan, and it really hit a spot with me because I've been involved with several Holocaust projects over the years.

Most will give you Preacher too, but you're probably right. And in the loosest sense of the term, Preacher is pretty much a super-hero book anyways.

Here's some of my favorite TPB/OGNs:

Any Stormwatch by Warren Ellis. Better than the Authority, IMO. It lays the groundwork for real adult superhero stories without resorting to the usual death/rape crap most writers nowadays fall back on.

Creature Tech by Doug TenNapel. TenNapel is like Dr Suess, Will Eisner and Chuck Jones wrapped up in one digestable package. One of the most spiritual sci-fi stories I've ever read.

Madman: Oddity Odyssey. Mike Allred's first Madman book and arguably the best. Deals with life, death, destiny gangsters, and mutant beatniks. A must read.

Or just buy Maus. You can't go wrong with that.

    BUY IT AGAIN!!

But in that case, I would also second getting the Stormwatch trades. I honestly think you can pick all five volumes up on Amazon for about $50. Failing that, there's nothing like a $40 One Volume BONE.

    We3.

I laughed, I cried. The best thing Grant Morrison or Frank Quitely has ever done.

Best three-issue arc ever. It doesn't matter what you're a fan of.
