Then why didn't you people vote for him in the biggest fanboy award? Huh? HUH?!?Originally Posted by YouStayClassy

Because he at least offers articulate reasons why he thinks the way he does. The guy I voted for usually responds in very few words that don't necessarily illustrate a point, which is what a fanboy is all about to me.Originally Posted by Kefky

But... he's the one who said marvel's pissing on Thor's hammer! C'mooon!Originally Posted by YouStayClassy

Ellis has never had a major sales success at Marvel or DC. Just seperate your own love of his work from the reality. He's flopped and failed to do anything memorable in mainstream comics. Ellis doesn't "get" mainstream superhero comics. He doesn't grasp what makes them work and tries to employ his own methods instead. Iron-Man was a snore, and I don't recall it being anything but a flop, regardless of the scheduling issues. It didn't stand out and was trying too hard to be something it's not.
Who cites Warren Ellis on Iron-Man? Ever?![]()
The same can be said about his X-work, Thor, Ultimate FF and his Ultimate mini series work that underwhelmed, and his Nextwave isn't selling and will be forgotten quickly when it's over, despite the few and proud online supporters.
It's cool that you guys like his work, though, but successful mainstream superhero writer he is not.
I enjoyed his Thor run to tell you the truth. Yes, it was wildly different from what we know as Thor, but that's why I liked it.Originally Posted by Dusty
And Ellis is kicking ass right now on Nextwave.

I really have to disagree.Originally Posted by Dusty
first off, he was IM for 6 issues. 6. No one is going to start quoting his IM aftera six issue run, cool as it may be. And personally, I loved his IM
His X-work DID increase sales, but were cancelled when Joe Q came along and wanted to trim the line a bit.
More importantly, he IS extremley influentional on, whether it be "widescreen" stories, decompression, etc., He is very much the pioneer.
Nextwave sells over 20k, around the level of his creator woened work, which is pretty good for a cast of z-level superheroes.
Third, he has helped boost the careers of many artist. Darick R, hitch, Cassaday, Jiminez, Hamner, etc. All have had a lot of sucess post Ellis projects,
Finally, if he wanted Superman, X-men, Batman, etc tommorow he would get it. They dont justdo that for anybody
