So who's going to watch The Wire on demand starting tomorrow?

I'm debating firing it up at midnight tonight, but I think I'd rather wait to see it in HD.

I probably will watch it on On Demand. I've waited 19 months already, I don't want to wait another week.

You know, I'm this close to signing up for HBO, if only so I know why the shows are so highly praised. Seriously, around these parts, almost every HBO show gets high praise, from The Wire to The Sopranos to Curb Your Enthusiam, even Carnivale and Lucky Louie have been praised.

I feel like I'm missing out and want to join in, but I'm not a movie buff.

A number of HBO shows air on network TV in the UK. Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sopranos, Big Love, Sex And The City, Six Feet Under, some are joint BBC productions like Band Of Brothers, Rome and Extras, or Channel 4 shows like Ali G. I ever hear Little Britain is getting the HBO makeover treatment with David Walliams and Matt Lucas turning their character eye across the US. It's nice to see what America can do when the FCC blinkers are taken off. And The Wire is one of my favourites of all time, up there with Deadwood.

Oh, don't worry -- HBO isn't something you get for the movies.

We usually wait for the DVDs, but we've been watching Deadwood Season 3 OnDemand the last couple of nights. I didn't know they were putting The Wire up. I'll have to check that out.

You most definitely are missing out. Here's Dr. Bryce's prescription: rent or buy the first season of either The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood, or Six Feet Under. From there things will kind of go by themselves.

Carnivale was excellent in it's first season and sucked ass in the second and deservedly final season.

I haven't watched a movie on HBO in years. I get it for their shows.

Also, I don't get hbo ondemand with directv so my previous post was pretty masturbatory.
