Flash Gordon.
I am currently in the middle of planning some super cool stuff concerning the live performance of my band's rock opera.
Anybody have any suggestions for good movies/shorts/trailers/music videos that would be a good match for my science fiction rock opera?
Things I might be looking for:
-Awesome use of music, especially rock music
-Humor and/or shlockiness
-Futuristic themes
-Space themes
-The shorter the running time, the better
Any of the above would be awesome. I am looking for anything visual, including movie trailers/music videos/old commercials/feature length films.
If you need inspiration, feel free to download some of the tunes on my site: http://www.clawjob.com
Flash Gordon.
That is a great suggestion, actually. The first review we got compared us to that movie's soundtrack.
I liked when Wayne and Garth were driving around, listening to Bohemian Rhapsody, in Wayne's World. When the guitar solo kicks in, it's very funny.
There's a scene in Mel Brooks' High Anxiety when Dick Van Patten is trying to escape from the institute, and he can't turn the music is his car down. It blasts so loud that it finally kills him. The song they use is real funny, but just the visual of him with his hands over his ears screaming would be cool for any particularly hard rockin part in your piece.
bust out some of those MST3k episodes, then find the real movies.
...also, if you have one of those mom and pop style video stores around, they are a hotbed for awesome b-movies
I particularly loved that opera segment in The Fifth Element.
Any ideas from the morning crew?
The scene in Aliens when Vasquez yells "Let's Rock!!!" and they start blasting all the aliens and its mayhem for a few minutes.
