No, comics are not. It's just easily created entertaining garbage. Don't get me wrong, I still like them, but it's not art.

They're no different than any other form of entertainment. They can be art (you'll never convince me that Kabuki, for example, isn't art), but they aren't necessarily art.

Unbelievable. Of course comics are art. They're the product of imagination put in graphic form. That is the very definition of art. And like all art, there is good art and bad art, but it's all art.

Yeah I gotta say that they are an art form sometimes serious sometimes not depends on how you look at it.

yeah. there is something really beautiful about the comic dynamic.

i don't know who has said what anymore, i think Clowes, but i love the intimacy/mind stuff of the text with the external drawings.

i've heard some claim comics are like a language, in that a cartoonist or collaborators have to tell a story in their own drawings and whatnot. i'm butchering it now, but it's cool stuff.
