Oy. That's just shitty service on the power company's part.
Stupid heat wave!
Power went out last night at like 2:30 in the morning. All in all, I probably got around 2 hours of sleep, considering it was a toasty 95 degrees or so in our apartment, and humid.
I'm at work now, and last I called to check, the power is still not on. Goodbye, all the food in my fridge! I would have liked to consume you!

Oh, man. That sucks.
Sorry, Nick.
I am made out of water. You wouldn't know it, because I have it bound in. My friends are made out of water, too. All of them. The problem for us is that not only do we have to walk around without being absorbed by the ground but we also have to earn our livings.

I had a similar, but shorter experience yesterday. The power went out in my neighborhood for about 2 hours around noon. That wasn't so bad, because my ACs had been running up until that point, and I just kept the windows closed to keep the cool air in.
Anyway, at around 5:30 last night, it goes out again. So I figure it's the same problem and they'll fix it. I've never called to let the electric company know about these things, but I will from now on. Hours later, when it gets dark, I finally notice that in a sequence of three street lights before, near, and after my house, only the one nearest my house is actually out. And only three houses don't have power. And nobody was home for most of the afternoon at the other two, so no one ever called the electric company.
I finally called at about 8:30 p.m., and they told me the problem had been fixed already earlier in the day, maybe it was just my breaker. I assured them that some other houses had no power, too, so they agreed to send someone out. They finally showed up around 10 p.m. and fixed the problem in about 5 minutes.
So, basically it was my own damn fault for not calling earlier, just assuming someone else would. It just kept getting hotter and hotter in my house last night, for five hours without AC. And it never really cooled off outside either, so opening the windows didn't help.
Lesson learned.
And, actually, the power went out again today for about an hour...

Keep hydrated Nick. It's hot as hell today. Just blow everything off and find someplace cook to camp out for a bit.
Sounds like he teaches S&M. -Schizorabbit
There were electric company dudes in manholes (sounds like a gay porn title) all over the block this morning. 3 or 4 trucks at a time, all over the street. I assumed that meant it was gonna be fixed soonISH. Whatever. I'll check in again in a moment.
Gah! Still no power, and they revised the estimated power return time to 5:30.
I've had ZERO problems with power going out
