    I liked legos when they were less customized. Seems like the stuff they have now, you more or less have to build what it was meant to build with the pieces.

    I remember having a huge box of the stuff and we could make anything out of 'em, and then they started getting more prefab out of the boxes, geared toward making specific things.

    Depends on what kind of sets you buy. The kiddie oriented movie tie ins are custom parts intensive. But stuff like technic or mindstorms are aimed at older kids and have less of that.
