I'll help you after monday. Deadlines.
First of all, I'll introduce myself... ahem:
I'm Fco, and I'm finishing my studies in Graphic Design in the University of Chile, doing a thesis wich subject is, in a -good- part, your work (and Mr Bendis' too) in Daredevil.
For that, it is crucial for me to establish a certain contact with the involved ones of my investigation.
Would be very helpfully to me to maintain a dialogue with you (and your partner) about DD, comics in general, design, and all the things would matter to my thesis.
I'm trying to do a very serious reviewing about comic from the Design prespective (if it does exists), and I would try to not bother you more than the necesary.
So, would you like to help me?
Would you prefer to do it by this way or rather by the email way?... I prefer email but you says.
Well, that's all I hope have been clear enought... (excuse me for my english :P)
I'll help you after monday. Deadlines.
Before start.
I don't want to bore you with repeated questions. I've checked up www.maleev.net nad I've read your interviews. There is some other interview or review you know (about yourself :P) I should read too?
There's something writen about you or your work I should take a look?
Please advice me whenever you feel ready to start the dialogue, ok?
Thanks again.
fco
Mr Maleev.
I will have to do, what at the biggining didn't wanted: a questionary.
So, here are some questions I made considering my thesis' needs and your interviews I read before. Of course, you're free of indicate me if you think that some of this questions has been replied by you before (well... you are free of don't reply at all any of this questions too... but I hope you will).
Here we go:
Part one:
This questions have been made thinking of introducing you in the thesis, as a curriculum.
- Age?
- Originary of? (city)
- Do you live premanently in NY?
- Studies?
- Degrees?
- Works out of comic-books?
Part two:
Ok... now the interesting questions.
1.- What did you have in mind when you were choosing the style and look to give to DD?
2.- Did you thought of doing it different that this?
3.- In what idea or reference you based the look?
4.- What' 's the importance of Mr Bendis' scripts in the way DD looks?
5.- Do you feel like having some relationsihp with Graphic Design drawing comics? Do you consider comic-books as Graphic Design's pieces?
6.- Do you consider drawing comics as an art, or as a profession or occupation different?
7.- Influences in your conception of art? How it is evidenced in your work in DD?
8.- Do you consider your style as "posmodernism"? No, so how do you consider it?
9.- DD have a remarkable urban ambient,... I called it an "comic or urban action"... Do you think you need to be in NY to draw an ambient like NY?... do you need to go to space to draw the space?
10.- What do you preffer: the collage style of drawing comic-books, in which the panel dissapear an the page is worked in completly?, or the traditional panel page with edges well definied?
11.- Would you (like to ) describe your creative process, since the moment you recieve the script?... or it beggins before?
I have more question to do it... but it depends on how would you reply this lasts.
I hope not bother you with this... even from so far, I'm not just a student, but a "fan" too.
Greetings
PS: What jazz albums do you recommend to draw?... I listened recently one "Dizz & GetZ", which started sensational, but turns slow in the middle... :P
Uh... I forget to add: you can always reply to my email if it's more comfortable for you
Will the world end in the night time?... I don't know
