dr. who season 2 episode 2 tooth and claw

wasn't as good as episode 1. in fact could be the weakest of both seasons.

    Spoilers:
only thing i did like, was explaining how they started torchwood

Re: Doctor Who 2.2 - Tooth and Claw

Not at all. I thought that it was one of Russell T Davies's better scripts. I especially appreciated the continuing trickle of Torchwood information we're getting. It's amazing to think that Torchwood may well have come into existence in order to protect England from The Doctor!

The teaser was terrific, with the kung fu monks and the woman's screams merging seamlessly into the title sting.

Other things I appreciated include, in no particular order:
    • Billie in a miniskirt
    • Rose and the Doctor's side bet about getting Queen Victoria to say "I am not amused" and how the gag turned unexpectedly sober and ominous when the moment finally arrived.
    • The Doctor and the werewolf on opposite sides of the door.
    • The werewolf special effects generally. First rate!
    • The continuance of the bad wolf references, which I assumed had been wrapped up in series 1.
All in all, it's shaping up to be a good series, but I'm missing
    Spoilers:
    Christopher Eccleston
more than I expected, still, perhaps because
    Spoilers:
    his absence
is made more obvious by the
    Spoilers:
simultaneous SciFi Channel screenings of series one.

What's really interesting is that I think we're getting away from Russell T Davies scripts for awhile now. I do think his scripts have been the weakest overall so far, and it will be exciting to see other writers take on
    Spoilers:
    the new Doctor
    for the first time.

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of the first couple episodes of the first season. Overall the second episode was FAR better than the first, but still not great yet. I'm holding out judgement till "School Reunion" That is gonna be freaking MAGIC!

I dunno, I thought new earth was just cheesy, and... the sudden redemption at the end was a little too sudden for my liking.

We liked the nice joke of when the Doctor needed to give a name, he gave Jamie's, a companion from Scotland from the second Doctor's run. It was a nice nod to his history.
