Is it important your significant love pop culture?

Which, of course, you do or you wouldn't be here.

However, is it important that your significant other follow some TV show regularly? Know that such and such a band has a new album out on date X? That the _____ holiday weekend is the theatre release date for a potentially great film and is hyped to see it? Reads every book written by a certain author? And so on.

Or could you live happily forever with someone if they had not a bit of knowledge of pop culture beyond Top 40 radio, Deal Or No Deal, Benchwarmers, Stephen King and the newspaper comics, for example?

My girlfriend and I aren't on the same page for everything nerdy.

I'm Star Wars, she's Lord of the Rings. But we make it work, and we both try out each other's hobbies. She even started reading manga because I convinced her it wasn't all like Naruto.

    I'm a lonely, bitter fuck.

But yea, its kinda important to me so I'd hope she had a nominal interest in it.

My fiancee is somewhere between the Nerd and the American Idol extremes, and it's honestly one of the things I get frustrated with. But then I realize how fucking nerdy it is of me to get frustrated about and I hate myself just a little more.

It's cool, though. She loves Star Wars too. She just REALLY loves Aragorn... I try to tell her he's no way close to Han Solo, but she won't budge on it.

That's cool. It's sort of like me and my last girlfriend. She used to be really into stuff like D&D, LotR and Dragonlance Chronicles.

Me, I was the comics and Star Wars guy.

I could stand if it if she wasn't too keen on pop culture, but it's a BIG ol' plus if she was, since much of my humor comes from it.
