And yes, this casting is perfect. I can see Huston really pulling this off physically.
With Criterion's Complete Mr. Arkadin coming out at the end of this month, it's a great time to be a Welles fan.

Arkadin should be out next week, actually...though DeepDiscountDVD shipped mine last Friday. I can't wait, as I've only ever seen the shitty Laserlight print that was all jumpy.

Entertainment Weekly had a good little article about Arkadin this week called "The Movie that Broke Orson Welles's Heart." Worth checking out. Talks about the different cuts and a little about what's coming on the DVD.

I don't care to see Orson solving crimes. If that's the film, it's lame. I'm gonna do a big historical fiction OGN about Orson someday, and it'll be about real issues from his life, not some kind of made-up caper.

It could be done very well, I suppose, but I'm very skeptical.

So far, I don't think Orson has been cast very well in films. The dude in Hand That Rocks the Cradle was weak (Tim Robbins himself would have been much better), Liev Whats-his-name was just okay, and the best actor to try it (Dinofrio) was dubbed by the guy from Pinky and the Brain!

Exactly Anj, there's plenty of interesting stories to mine from Welles real life.
