Computers let people communicate with others around the world. I'd say that's good.
I always talk during my Information Systems class and correct the professor because he's a fucking moron, and last week he told me I can run the class for 15 minutes on Monday, show slides, talk about whatever I want, though somewhat technology related. I'm thinking about countering his argument about how pretty soon everyone's going to have all kinds of personal information about us (this is what he showed during class: http://www.aclu.org/pizza/). I'm going to put together a presentation about how much better technology has made our lives, and try to be somewhat funny during it. Anyone got some good ideas I can throw in? I want to make the professor look like an asshole, if possible, especially since he was apparently badmouthing me to another section.

Comic book message boards.
Show slides of students using laptops in class to avoid listening to the lecture.
I would discuss the concept of EVDO wireless cards and the fact that everyone will soon have the ability to be connected at all times.
Also when cell phones first came out people complained that their bosses, friends, etc. would be able to get ahold of them any time any where, and that that would act like a leash on them. However as most people have found out since the ability to get ahold of people far outways the downside of people contacting you at all times.
This is similar to what is happening with internet privacy right now. While it sucks that we will lose bits of privacy, I believe the advantages of living in a transparent world will end up empowering the individual much more than it will corporations and the government.

The Internet is a communication tool used the world over where people can come together to bitch about movies and share pornography with one another.
I'm sure you can broaden that to talk about how you can also do things faster and quicker (such as your taxes, pay bills, look up the weather, etc.).
