    "Thor: Ragnarok" Appreciation Thread

I finally bought the TPB for the Thor Ragnarok storyarc and I read it all in one sitting last night, and I must say I was completely blown away. This was an absolutely amazing story and I can't say enough good things about the job Oeming did with writing this masterpiece. I honestly even shed a tear or two when I saw that panel where the little boy was laying on the shield with the knife in his hand after the battle....that was extremely touching. I can count on one hand the number of times that has happened to me while reading comics, and it takes a very special writer to pull that kind of emotion from a reader.

My only complaint was that it says "Avengers Disassembled" on the spine instead of what it should say "Thor: Ragnarok". This is literally the biggest story in the mythology of Thor and it gets filed under Avengers....WTF?

Nonetheless, this is absolutely a must have for any comic fan in my opinion and Oeming should be the only man allowed to write Thor after this legendary story arc. You fuckin rule Mike.

It was probably one of the few Avengers Disassembled tie-ins that had a really good justification for putting the symbol on the cover, in my opinion. This was the ultimate disassembly!

I'm a bit of a shtickler for mythology, so this is probably my all-time favourite Thor story - not that I've been the biggest buyer of Thor.
In fact, to be honest, the only other time I can remember enjoying Thor that much, was watching Thor cartoons on BETA.

I was surprised to see this turn up in a local newsagency.
They haven't stocked comics en masse for a good few years now, but I started buying regularly, and I think something twigged.

    Great story.
It's going to be tough to come back from. Especially if rumors are accurate...

This was the first time I ever wanted to collect a Thor comic. It was beyond awesome and an excellent Disassembled tie-in. I just wish we could have had some more Oeming Thor stories.

Oeming drawn would've been nice too.

    At least the covers!
I'm increasingly frustrated by the tradition of covers going to the interior artist, thus reserving other artists for variant covers. The Alex Ross cover for Green Lantern springs to mind as one of the most recent examples.

Regardless, Oeming Thor would be great.

Have you guys read any of Walt Simonson's Thor? If not, you really need to check it out. At least pick up the first Visionaries tpb of his. Great stuff.
