I dug this as usual.Slott gives another heart filled tale with some super villains needing a whooping.I mean come on,this is why we love comics.Sandman?Oh yes.
A+
Which was already on my pull list, of course.
Lots of fun again this issue. The Masseuse gag was my favorite part. Even if people don't really care for the Thing as a character, I don't know why they wouldn't buy this book for DiVito's art alone. It's the best the Thing has looked in forever.
Nice to see the 2 villains of the piece again. The last time we got to see PPP was in that arc of Waid's FF that almost made me drop the book. So I'm ready for a new round.

This series just gets better and better in my opinion. I really can't understand how a book this fun could be failing.
Definitely one of my favourite series at the moment.
Acording to Joe's Fridays this is going to be the last issue with DiVito.
Apparently he is moving on to Annihilation though so that is good for him.
The next artist will be Kieron Dwyer. I am possibly going to throw myself open to ridicule and say I don't know who Kieron Dwyer is, can anyone help me here?
Also, a question for Dan, Joe seemed to imply that DiVito is gone for good, is that true?
I heard that too, and I am less than happyOriginally Posted by Dingo
Kieron Dwyer was on a far few issues of Avengers Volume 3, around the late 40s to shortly after Geoff Johns took over (can't remember when that was).
He's not too bad, but not exactly a favourite of mine. For me, he's going to have an almost impossible task of following DiVito![]()
I'm not the biggest fan of Brevoort as an editor. He moves around artists far too much. This sucks that Di Vito is getting moved permanently. Just in time for this big pull list push.Originally Posted by Dingo
Ain't nothing like showing perspective buyers some instability as a pitch to try to get their money, huh?
Anyway, I am a fan of Kieron Dwyer, and am glad to see him doing more work for Marvel. He wasn't the perfect choice for Avengers. (he wrapped up Kurt Busiek's run and then did some of Geoff Johns' issues, Dingo.)
He got his start on Captain America back in the 80's when he was 17. I believe he was John Byrne's step son at the time, if memory serves me right.
I'll still collect the Thing, but I sure hope this isn't going to be yet another case of a book that can't hold an artist. Let Dwyer stay for a good few years.
Andrea was really psyched about the Hercules issue, ESPECIALLY jazzed about the poker issue, and heartbroken about leaving THE THING. But the office REALLY needed someone to hop on board and draw ANNIHILATION.
Andrea has made it known, that if we can keep THE THING going, it's his desire to come back to the book. THE THING is one of his favorite characters and he was having a ball working on the book. And he was actually the first one to suggest taking drastic measures-- to do ANYTHING-- to bolster the book's numbers. When we started kicking around the idea of a contest-- he was the one who said we should offer his original art as a prize! What a guy!
Meanwhile, as you can tell, though I'm bummed we're losing Andrea to the lucky ANNIHILATION team, I'm SUPER-PUMPED to be working with Kieron!
Kieron Dwyer is one of the best pencilers in the industry! He's worked on part of Kurt Busiek's run of AVENGERS, and has also produced stellar work on CAPTAIN AMERICA, DAREDEVIL, UNCANNY X-MEN, X-FACTOR, ACTION COMICS, LOBO, and BATMAN (to name a few!).
Kieron's also drawn on one of my favorite BATMAN stories of the past 20 years: DETECTIVE COMICS ANNUAL #8 (if you've never read it, do yourself a favor and hunt it down! One of the best Batman/Riddler stories EVER told!). Here's the cover:

Come Monday, if it's okay with the office (and I can figure out how to put artwork up on the net), I'll see if we can show off a page or two Kieron's THING pages! I can't wait for people to see the AMAZING work he's doing on THE THING-- and how great Laura's colors look over his work!!!

Ouch, that is going to be a tough act to follow. I have only heard one person online say that they didn't like DiVito's work, they wanted it to be less cartoony and more grim and gritty.Originally Posted by Howlett
I swear some people would ask for more grim and gritty art in Millie the Model for goodness sake.

Obviously never saw his work on Thor: Ragnarok then
I'll give Kieron the benefit of the doubt of course, it's not like I can't stand his work. I liked his Avengers okay enough, I just would much prefer DiVito to stay.
Annihilation is seven issues right?Originally Posted by Dan Slott
