    The Walking Dead Hardcover

Was brilliant. It arrived on Friday and I was planning on reading it during my spring break (next week), but I ended up reading it all today in one sitting. This is really one of the more enjoyable and well executed comic series I've ever read. Maybe it was because I read it all in one sitting, but I really felt that this book did a great job of engaging the reader. The relationships between the characters were always complex and I was never shown a dull moment. The characters are all sympathetic and you really feel a sense of fear for their well beings.

Kirkman doesn't pull any punches and is really unafraid to be ruthless to these characters. The script isn't as funny as his other works, nor is it meant to be. But, it is surprisingly human for any comic book. The action is great and always serves a purpose. He does a great job in showing the differences between fighting amongst the group and killing the zombies.

Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard did a great job as well. I really enjoyed Moore's work and was sad to find that he left the title after the first arc, but I quickly grew to love Adlard's work.

The extras in the hardcover aren't as numerous as that of Invincible's, but it was really interesting to see the original pitch for the title, as well as some sketches and those gorgeous covers.

I can't recommend this book enough. Image is turning out a lot of quality books these days that not enough people are reading. So give the Walking Dead a try. Read the first trade, or find a good jumping on point. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I haven't read too much of this series, but what I have I like. I actually picked up the scriptbook recently, and I'm reading that before the first trade. I've read some single issues, but Kirkman's writing seems to be very arc-oriented, not focused on the single issue. Love it so far though, seriously thinking about just jumping right into the hardcover.

How were you able to get this? I put in an order with my LCS a few weeks before it came out...and maybe they were shipped 1 or 2. I waited and waited, kept asking them when it would come in...but eventually gave up and settled on the trades.

I haven't read these as single issues, so I really wouldn't be able to accurately comment on that. I can say that it reads beautifully together.

For anyone who wants this, you can order it from www.instocktrades.com . I received mine within five business days (ordered it on a Monday and got it on the following Friday). It's affordable as well.

I fucking love this book. I reread it while I was home and I still was surprised and just loved every second of reading it. I need to catch up on the issues those. Looking for 22 to current.

I hope there'll be a volume 2 with the next 24 issues in two years. This HC has a special place on my shelf.

God yes. I love these giant hardcovers so much. The only unfortunate thing is I have to wait for it to come out.

That Hardcover is just so god damn amazing. I was only going to thumb through a few of the extras but I ended up reading/looking through all of them. I'm always surprised by size of the collection too, indeed it would be good for fending off the Walking Dead. I have the Fantastic Four Omnibus so I shouldn't have been so surprised by it.

I really enjoy this series. I started buying the comics, but sold them and went the trade route, but no way could I pass up this gorgeous hardcover.

Did anyone else realize the covers to the trades line up? I didn't notice until I was at the airport in San Francisco and saw them lined up.

I didn't notice until I read it in the hardcover.

These covers, and the Y: the Last Man covers, are some of the best I've ever seen. I can only hope that BKV books get the same, or a similar treatment.
