Aide: Chicago Not Interested In 2008 RNC
(AP) CHICAGO Thanks but no thanks.
That's Chicago's answer to an invitation to submit a bid to host the 2008 Republican National Convention.
The Republican National Committee said yesterday that Chicago and 30 other cities were selected to submit bids explaining why they'd be a good choice to host the 2008 convention.
But a spokeswoman for Mayor Richard Daley says City Hall isn't interested.
Jackie Heard says city officials are more focused on whether to pursue a campaign to host the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Chicago hosted the Democratic National Convention in 1996.
Well not for the implied reason, Jamie. The Olympics are a bigger deal, though.

Why Daley is so concerned with getting the Olympics I'll never know.
It took decades to get the Bears a "new" stadium. Most people didn't like New Comiskey until they started renovating all the design mistakes out 10 years after it was built. Now Daley wants to build a Olympic stadium that will sit dormant for the rest of its life, unless by some chance we land a 2nd NFL team (yeah, right).
Getting the "Gay Games" in Chicago seems to be causing enough headaches. Do the masses really want the Olympics here. Probably not...
fuck yes CHItown. i dont want my city to shut down for some stupid convention. also, im not liking the olympics talk.

Daley is from a long family history of active Democrats, what did you expect?
In addition to not wanting to see more video memories of his dad's mis management of the infamous 68 dem con (and riot) .
Bwaaaa-haa-haa!
Sweet Home Chicago!
I'm sure St. Louis will take you in GOP, they have no standards.
I also told the RNC to fuck off. They didn't offer to come here, but I don't want those assholes in my neighborhood. It was a preventive measure.
Good for them, throwing away millions of dollars in cash and benefits, all because the current mayor doesn't like the GOP! Whoo!
I hope the convention comes back to NYC. It would be pretty cool to have Giuliani nominated for Prez or VP on his home turf.
