stats might be different now, too (for better or for worse)

we were all young, and were afraid to ask questions such as what we are asking now, like what degree is considered abuse in this stat, etc.
I understand that. But if that's all you have to go on, I really think you shouldn't use that statistic. Numbers can be manipulated in so many ways. If you can't look at the source material, it just clouds the issues.

speaking of damage done... i know someone who has been raped, and i find it amazing how they've put all that behind them (even giving birth to the raped child and caring for her)....
most likely, she hasn't put it all behind her. if she's like most people, she's got more love for that child than you or I could imagine, sure, but she'll have problems loving herself, respecting herself, trusting people, depression, and many other things that comes with sexual abuse.

She is however, brave, strong, loving, and amazing for baring that child, loving and caring for it. I hope she is doing well, and that she is seeking therapy. The journey to heal from such ordeal takes a lifetime.

I'll use it however I want. I learned it in school, and I believe it.

If someone else has a stat out there they can prove otherwise, i will continue to rely on the stat which was taught to me.

Okay, you can do whatever you want, but I think that's total bullshit. It's exactly the kind of thing that makes me hate right wing talk radio dicks like Rush Limbaugh. He makes assertions that he can't back up just to "prove" a point.

like I said, if someone else is able to provide me with a stat, I'll be happy to look into it, but I never made a statement saying 'this is this, and no other'.

if you remember, I already stated that I don't know what the stat considers as sexual abuse, it's just a stat I've been shown and taught. Let's keep focus on what is important here anyway:

one sexual abuse is too many, IMO.

I heard somewhere that 50% of all reported sexual abuse is completely fabricated by the women because they just want attention. I don't remember who said it or what their methodology was, but I think I'll keep repeating it until someone proves me wrong.

I don't understand what you're trying to here, but do what you will.

I will be going to my therapy this week.

you can decide if I'm the 50%

I'm trying to show you that what you are doing is wrong. Presenting information that you do not know to be true as fact is wrong. The burden isn't on other people to prove you wrong, the burden is on you to make sure that you aren't spreading disinformation around.

This is one of the major problems with discourse in the United States. People repeat stuff that they've heard without ever bothering to verify that it's true.

I DO know it to be true.

    SEX ED! SCHOOL!!!!!!

I didn't pull it off of some feminist website or anything like that.

And if the stat is off, I already said I will look into it.

just because I don't know the specifics of what the actual sexual abuse is based on doesn't take away the fact that that stat is true.
