do it by hand
Hello Bendis boarders! I am new around here, as well as to comic book creation -- but I was wondering if you folks could offer any advice about the use of free comic fonts? Do you have any recommendations or warnings, etc?
Also, I found a particularly neat font, based on the lettering of Carl Barks and his comics ... since I speak no german, I am not sure about the legality of using such a distinctive font. Does anyone know anything about that font? (it's at this site... http://www.donald.org/barks/font/ )

if you're self publishing, they have some good, free stuff at www.blambot.com
you should try out hand-lettering. i think it looks much, much better.
If a letterer created the font himself, could you really tell?Originally Posted by andrew french

other times, it looks like the artist's handwriting, or at least more natural.
some artists are such good letterers, it becomes one with the art. me, on the other hand, i like tampering with every little bit of my lettering and writing and dialogue down to the last minute, so i rock computer lettering.
