Question Salary requirement for science consult work for movie?

I'm in the running for a job as a scientific consultant for an upcoming, big Hollywood blockbuster! Basically, they're looking for someone to help ground the script in the realities of science (sort of). For pay, though, they're asking for my "salary requirement." I mean, when they put it like that? I require a million dollars!

But seriously, what would something like this normally pay? It seems like it'll be 1-2 months of work at 10-20 hours per week.

Depends on the budget of the movie. If it really is big budget, maybe you could squeeze $50,000 out of them. I guess it also depends on what they are asking from you, will you be explaining Einstein's theory of relativity in detail or will you be saying things like "hey there's no gravity in space."

I would look up the average yearly salary of a college science prof. and divide by 6. That should give you a good starting point.

Sounds like a fun job. What's the movie?

Have any of the creators that show up here gotten 'consultant' credits on films?

yea, there's no way you can estimate the worth without some ground of stable numbers there.

Take the average salary for the position. Break it down to an hourly wage. I believe from there you multiply it by 2 or 3. That'll give a starting negotiation point.

Where could I find this "average salary" information? Google's no help at all.
