    Deadman HC

I know nothing about Deadman. Not a thing. Don't think I ever read a story w/ him in it. Know nothing about his powers.

    BUT

We have had this DEADMAN HC, oversized in a slip-case (sealed) at the store for a while. And each time, I ponder over it.

    I haven't Googled the character.

    I didn't research it.

    BUT

I kept going back to this wanting to know the story.

    The slipcase cover is gorgeous:

So, this weekend, I picked it up.

Gonna crack into it in about an hour or so after my bath.

It is (as the description reads) "the classic saga from the late 1960's through the early 1970's collected complete for the first time in a 354 page deluxe HC edition. Featuring timeless material from Neal Adams, Carmine Infantino, Arnold Drake, Dennis O'Neil, and others. Including introductory comments from Neal Adams, Arnold Drake, and Carmine Infantino."

It collects stories from Strange Adventures 205-216, The Brave and the Bold 79, 86, Deadman backup stories from Aquaman 50-52, and Challengers of the Unkown 74. Includes a newly inked version of Strange Adventures #205, done especially for this edition by Neal Adams.

Do you think this is a good impulse purchase? Anyone know of the character (please no spoilers) and think this is a good buy?

Kelly Jones did a series of minis with Deadman that were the BOMB.

I don't know about much earlier than that. In fact, until the Kelly Jones stories I always thought Deadman was a fairly lame character.

    That's just my opinion, though.

I think the Neal Adams art would be the payoff in this case, though.

I've only read Deadman as he's appeared in Batman stories. Seems like an interesting character. With a nice HC like that it sounds like a good purchase. You should be pleased.

Deadman is a clasic character. He's one of my favorites. How much was the collection. I think I might pick it up even though I have most of it.

I'm not a fan of the Kelly Jones art, but the stories by Mike Barron were cool.
