POWERS #15 sucked ass; SCHOOL: A GHOST STORY did not

So I did a return trip to Comicopia today, as I found out I was the "Quote of the Month" in POWERS this month and figured I should buy the issue.

I read POWERS in trades, so I knew I wouldn't bother reading the story. But I figured, for my money, I'd at least get the famous multi-page letters column that I hear so much about. But noo-ooo, instead I get a print version of the Q & A I'd already read here (for free). So I basically spent three bucks just to see my name in print--and not even my real name. Bendis really screwed the pooch with this one; a shark-jumper for sure.

I also picked up the first two issues of Defferding's SCHOOL: A GHOST STORY, which Ron has in a nice display up by the front counter. I enjoyed the comic very much, noted that the second issue is better than the first in every measurable way (which is obviously a good sign for things to come), and everyone here who likes to try new things should pick it up, or order it from Defferding. He'll be a "name" artist in a few years, I'm willing to bet.

He'll probably pass Bendis (going down) on his way up. Since Bendis sucks now, and rips people off.

    This is a joke right?

Not about Defs book, that's on the up and up... but the rest is just sad.

Defferding's a good guy, and i wish him only success, while not having to conform to anyone elses editorial or creative standards to make a living

Okay. But who said anything about him writing Spider-Man? I just said I liked his comic, and I think he'll be successful. I was picturing him in the Scott Morse/Bryan Lee O'Malley Oni mold, myself. Not in tone or style, just in career trajectory.

What if he WANTS to write Spider-Man?

then let him publicly state that as his goal now, rather then loudly speak out agaist things like "bad girl" comics 10 years ago, only to have most of the comics he writes now feature triple E tits on the covers
