"We do and should discriminate" says Maine Pastor.

I just watched utter discrimination and intolerace on my local affiliate of NBC news. Granted it is an editorial response, but this guy is being either VERY ironic, or very ignorant toward homosexuality (or sexuality in general).

    EDITORIAL RESPONSE - Ballot

We said voters should vote NO on referendum question one, November 8. The question reads “Do you want to reject the new law that would protect people from discrimination in employment, housing, education, public accommodations and credit based on their sexual orientation?” Pastor sandy Williams, Chairman, Coalition for Marriage, responds.

Pastor Sandy Williams, Chairman Coalition for Marriage

The editorial on Question One was at best simplistic and at worst deceptive.

To say that “discrimination for any reason is terrible public policy” fails to recognize the indisputable fact that we do and we should discriminate. We all make distinctions and differentiate in ways that are good and right.

I’ll vote YES because this law, which has already been rejected by the people of Maine twice, is an attempt to normalize what is not normal. This twice-rejected law cleverly redefines humanity, not as male and female, but as hetero-, homo-,
    bi-, or whatever.

This radical redefinition of humanity will lead to increased gender confusion and ultimately to intolerance, threatening civil and religious liberties through indoctrination of our children in public school sex ed courses and diversity workshops.

I’ll vote YES because normal human sexuality is the coupling of a male and a female in marriage. That’s not right wing extremism. It’s what most Maine Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives, Jews, Christians, Muslims and those with no religion actually believe.

Common sense Mainers who want to preserve marriage will VOTE YES on Question One.

Actually, I agree with that statement, on the face of it. Our laws are inherently discriminatory. We discriminate against murderers, thieves and rapists. We make distinctions between children and adults. We decide that some crimes are worse than others.

I wouldn't say pathetic as much as I would scary.
He's a pastor, so you know that people are going to be affected by him and his opinions in his preaching ("of love and tolerance" as is the christian faith), and also he's also the leader of the coalition of Marriage.

THIS VOTE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MARRIAGE!!! **I was actually yelling this at the tv screen when this "loving" pastor was on.

Yes, we all discriminate when it comes to putting people or things into comfortable groups for our sakes of our human nature.

HOWEVER, what he's implying is that we SHOULD do this against people that are gay, and it's okay to treat people poorly (differently) just because they are different.

Right, I mean, I don't agree with where he goes with it, but the first statement is essentially correct.
