1. Liberty Meadows
2. Calvin and Hobbes
3. For Better or For Worse
4. Peanuts
5. Zits
6. PvP (it has appeared in some papers.)
7. Get Fuzzy
8. Dennis the Menace (the classic ones.)
9. Pogo
10. Foxtrot
All the talk on this board about the funnies made me want to do something big. Everyone list their top ten favorite Newspaper comic strips of all time, based on the entire body of work of the strip(so if a strip sucks now, judge it not just on that, but on it's heyday as well), whether it's current or ended it's run already. Rank them in order, and I'll give 10 points to your first choice, 9 to your second, and so on. After one week, I'll tally all the votes, and the top 64 (or 32, based on how many votes we get) strips will face off in a one-on-one tournament until we have a winner. Feel free to make any comments next to your votes, but it's not essential, of course. Get to voting!![]()

I can't think of 10 that I've really enjoyed.
1. Calvin and Hobbes
2. Bloom County
3. The Far Side
4. Zippy the Pinhead
...that's all I have.
1. Calvin and Hobbes
2. Mutts
3. Peanuts
4. The Far Side
5. Bloom County
6. Pogo
7. Get Fuzzy
8. Thimble Theatre (I just got into this--so good!)
9. For Better or For Worse
10. Liberty Meadows
1. Calvin and Hobbes(Needs no explanation)
2. Bloom County(Best political comic ever)
3. Garfield(Probably still the best pet-based comic strip of all time. Years 4-15 are gold.)
4. For Better or For Worse(An incredibly consistent exercise in storytelling, even if it's become a bit of a soap opera in recent years)
5. Pearls Before Swine(The heir in spirit to #1 and #2. Not as consistently brilliant yet, but it's getting there)
6. Cathy(A perfect example of how great writing can save even the lamest concept. It stays with the times, never gets old, and got a huge shot in the arm when she got married last year.)
7. Over the Hedge(Such a crazy bizzare concept- an animal's eye view of suburbia- and yet it never fails to crack me up. Great slapstick comedy and satire.)
8. Peanuts(For sheer consistency, it deserves a spot here. It was never my thing, but there's no doubt what was accomplished there.)
9. Zits(There are very few good strips about teenagers out there, as teens don't read the funnies too much anymore. But this strip manages to appeal to both teens and adults, and never fails to be solidly funny. The most consistent strip running currently.)
10. Crankshaft(My guilty pleasure. This strip about a curmudgeonly bus driver has some repetitive jokes, but it balances it with incredibly likeable characters and great art. Miles better than Funky Winkerbean, by the same creators.)
