Remember Armageddon 2001?

I first started reading comics around the time of Armageddon 2001. Probably one the best use of Annuals ever. What was the deal with how that went down, and whatever happened to the villain of the story? Didn't he become Extant (horrible name), or something? What happened from there?

Extant was previously the Monitor...who was previously Hawk.

IIRC Monarch became Extant during Zero hour and was killed by Atom Smasher in JSA when Extant was swapped with Atom Smashers mom on a plane that was destroyed by a terrist act by Kobra.

I remember this. I was really into it when it came out -- I was like 12 -- but it's funny to read those annuals now and read all the different realities of the distant year 2001.

One of my favorite obscure characters if waverider. I'm pretty pissed they showed him in Justice League Unlimited, but haven't used him, especially in the Time Travel episodes

I loved the Superman annuals. One had Superman becoming President, another had Lois Lane dying while pregnant with Superman's child, and Superman exiling himself to space and hooking up with Maxima, and the third had Superman going nuts after Metropolis was destroyed with a nuclear bomb, and Batman going after him. Good stuff.
