Bendis Board Not So Weekly Top Ten (9/19/05)

Well, I know I've been slacking off as of late and ignoring my duties as Arbiter of All Things Good on this board. I've got some free time tonight so I figured I'd put together a Top Ten list. Got some old stuff on here but I think it's worthy of recognition so I'm not gonna worry about that.

1. The Roman Candle - For the record, I stand behind the Blandy/Giannini campaign, but The Candle unleashed a hilarious smear campaign designed to derail their Presidential bid. Great stuff:

2. Technofear - Dude came with some quality self-deprecating humor in his "Just Look What My Uncle Left For Me As His Computer Wallpaper This Morning" thread.

3. Boris the Blade - Boris turned a thread about Geoff John's last issue of The Flash into his own personal, lyrical tribute to Geoff Johns. Funny stuff.

4. Pat Loika - I ain't gonna lie, highbrow humor is NOT a requirement to make the Top Ten:



Yeah, it's funny on a Carrot Toppian level but I still laughed.

5. Flonk - I like All-Star Batman and even I couldn't help but laugh at Flonk's hilarious All-Star Batman quotes. Here's a couple of them on display:

6. Myxomatosis - The guy posted a great response to all the folks looking to trash Frank Miller and All Star Batman for their treatment of All Star Robin. Very logical and humorous:

It's because Batman has always been portrayed as a sensative caring soul in the past, and this just contradicts past continuity.

I have no problem with this book. Batman is in his late 20's early 30's, right? He's trying to toughen up Dick, right? (boy does that sound bad)

I think that is exactly how he'd talk to him.

R. Lee Ermy didn't make all nicey-nice with the recruits in Full Metal Jacket, so why can't Batman be like a drill instructor?

7. Gail Simone - Reading her "DANGER Bendis DANGER Board Outbreak!" thread kinda reminded me of reading a Grant Morrison Seven Soldiers comic...I didn't quite understand it but I still enjoyed it.

8. Thudpucker - Nobody - and I mean nobody - does a better job of creating "conversation" here. Thud plays a big part in keeping things interesting on this board...and, even if he didn't, I'd still have to give him props just for having the biggest balls since Tony Tedeschi (porn lovers will get that reference):

9. Goddamn Trillian - The wit and wisdom of Trillian are on full display in her "Question for the ladies" thread. If you people have any sense, you'll vote for her as the Bendis Board Woman of the Year:
