Grant Morrison is just a bad fit for All-Star Superman

I'm not going to be picking this up, and before you say "But you hate SUperman!", let me say: yes, that is essentially fact. However, a good twist can get me interested. But Grant Morrison isn't a writer I want to see on this. His sensibilites seem like they will fail to mesh with an all-ages Superman revamp. And yes, I know, everything Morrison does is gospel and any criticism of him is wrong. But at some point you have to realize that just isn't true. Like everyone else he has done mediocre and just plain bad stuff. And I think, without the freedom to cut loose on the character, this is going to fall under mediocre. I saw it with AS Batman and Robin: Miller, deprived of his ability to go dark, turned out a trite superhero story that did nothing new for the characters in question. And yes I know, now I'm guilty of the ultimate comics sin, Miller-hating. Except I'm not. He just didn't fit with the book, and I can't see Morrison fitting with a similar-vein Superman story.

Is anyone else with me in thinking this won't justify the circle-jerk everyone is doing around it?

I am not a big fan of Grant's Superhero work. I didn't like his JLA or his Marvel Boy. But I loved his X-men.

I have enjoyed WE3, Invisibles, and stuff like The Mystery Play, etc.


The 8 page preview in Wizard didn't 'wow' me, but I will reserve judgement until I have read the first issue.

Based on ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN THE BOY WONDER, I don't neccessarily see this line as being "all ages" books.
