Last I checked Dave Sim never bought comics from every store that carried his comic...
I don't see how one has anything to do with the other.
I cannot afford to buy comics anymore. I'm spending $10-20 a week (3-6 titles!) on books that I read once and throw under my bed.
I understand the hardwork that goes into them. I make my own comics and spend 14 hours per page. 14 x 22 is a big ass number and I have no problem charging $3 for someone to experience 6 month's worth of work.
But I can't afford it. I need every penny I make and can't afford to spend money on entertainment.
So the logical thing is to stop buying comics. Most of the stories I read will be collected in trade format, anyways, so in the future, when I have enough money to afford to read these stories, I could get the trades. Plus, I think it's fun to read a run at a time.
My question is, is it wrong for me to stop buying monthly comics at my lcs that also supports me as a self publisher? Is it wrong to ask them to continue to sell my book if I can no longer buy theirs?

They're carrying your books because they think they're a good product that will sell. They're not doing it as a favor to you. Don't worry about it.

look if you spent more money than you get from them, if you get more, don't cancel
it shouldn't be a problem. if it is just be honest with them.
or write a comic about not being able to afford comics.
sorry couldn't resist.

my suggestion? buy books that you will actually read over and over again. fables and ultimates are 2 mainstream books that once i finish them, i'll read them atleast 4-5 more times before i put them away.
I don't have time to reread stuff and really, the only book I could think of that makes me want to read it multiple times is Kabuki.Originally Posted by batmanbooyah
follow Bendis' advice: steal them
or just read them in the shop. I hear you can read them in about 5 minutes
