Saturday, and i've got tickets for "Cage Warriors". A new MMA event over here.
I'm going with Jamie who works with someone who is participating in it. It is his 2nd fight this.
Me and Jamie meet up with the rest of the group going. There are about 20 of us. Scott Allott (the fighter) finished his first fight by knockout in 1 minute 28 so a whole load of us wore t-shirts with EVIL 1:28 on it. After a few beers we head for the train and end up locking one of us in the toilet for the 30 minute journey then tried to get him in trouble for fare skipping but the conductoer found it funny anyway.
When we got there, Scott was in the first fight. Won in 2 minutes 40. He had a re-match against the person he beat last time. He tried to go more for the grapple this time, i think fearing his stricking from his previous defeat. Scott never really appeared in trouble though at one point his opponent did rain down a few blows on him be he pretty much managed to block and dodge most of them before swinging back with a mean left hook that staggered him. He took him to the ground and managed to get back control and choked him out. Great fight.
The rest of the fights were generally impressive too. There was one guy who was on his back and had about 20 blows to the head and never gave up. I was sure the ref was going to stop it but he got back up to fight back. Lost eventually though.
The main event was also very good technically and wouldn't have looked out of place on UFC.
Once out and in the car park, Jamie and one of the others decide to have an impromtu UFC fight. Jamie gets his head slammed into a car before making the other guy tap to an excuciating finger bend manoever. The other guy woke up the next morning with a black eye and sore fingers.
After that we went out into town and met up with some other friends who were also out in the same town celebrating a birthday. Damn expensive night but is fun and will be going to the next one.
