I get over 40 spam emails a day when I use Gmail?!

it all goes to the Spam folder and then i delete them
every now and then it will go to my inbox and i star it and report it as spam

Its not like they come to my inbox or anything but Ill look over and see 39 or 40 next to the spam folder everyone morning when i check my mail
