Thread: The TV Cancellation Topic (saucey will love this one)

Re: The TV Cancellation Topic (saucey will love this one)

Okay. I just read a great interview with the new Community showrunners.

    http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/10/09/co...port-season-4/

    They sound good.

Also, NBC is delaying the premiere and appears to be reconsidering the Friday death slot, adding marketing muscle behind the show, and less sure of its other shows.

    Here's the thing:

30 Rock and The Office are both ending.

NBC is not yet sold on the Dwight spinoff.

And they appear to be reconsidering Community.

I think they may be looking at Thursdays in 2013 and realizing that Parks & rec is all they've got.

I doubt Community will get a back order for more than a few episodes... But it may yet get renewed.

Without having seen either, based on your descriptions, Made in Jersey sounds FAR.... well, shittier. Seriously, ANOTHER legal drama? Aren't there already dozens littering the TV landscape? Mob Doctor sounds like Breaking Bad without the meth, so not exactly screaming originality, but still a bit fresher than "feisty female lawyer deals with workplace and social stresses" v478.2.

What is "fish out of water" about a girl working a mere train ride away from the place she grew up? Made in Jersey's whole premise was a tired stereotype. It was the opposite of high concept. It was no concept.

The Dane Cook midseason comedy Next Caller has already been canceled before it aired.

Well, at least there is some justice in the world. Seeing Dane Cook as a shock jock with an NPR Naive Feminist, boy that sounds as if it was gonna be a laugh a minute.

Maybe that was a taste decision rather than a ratings one, eh? I mean its DANE COOK.

Good news regarding Community. It's funny, because I think on a stronger network it would have better ratings (the top networks seem to sell everything as "gold" regardless as to whether or not it sucks), but I don't think other networks would give it this long a leash.

I like how, much like comics, the ratings of today relative to the ratings of previous years are down, but stuff that was cancelled even three years ago would own its timeslot now. Maybe this will make them less likely to shoot down shows that are critically acclaimed but taking some time to find an audience.

I would give up Revolution, Vegas, the New Normal for Last Resort and Partners. Throw in 666 Park Ave since I don't watch it.
