Aaron Allston has a new X-Wing book coming out. The bad thing is it is set after the Fate Of the Jedi which I could really care less about. The good thing is it features the Wraith Squadron. Some of the best original characters since thrawn mara and karrade. If you made a list of the best of the star wars expanded universe Allston's Wraith Books would be right up there beneath Timothy Zahn's original Trilogy, the Hand Of Thrawn Dulogy, and Survivor's Quest and Outbound Flight. I may have to check this out.

To be honest I checked out of Star Wars novels since Sacrifice, if you read it you know why. The only exception I made was the third Bane Book and the Emperor novel by Lucceno.Originally Posted by saintsaucey
Yeah I gave up on the universe as well. But like I said allston's x-wing wraith squadron books were really fun. The first three were set between stackpole's series and the courtship of princess leia. I sampled this one on my nook and really enjoyed what I read so I'm gonna get a hold of it some how.

Fuck it's in hard back. I had my brother drop me at the nearest B&N so I could buy it and read it in store. I don't have the $ for a hardback though. Every other fucking book in the series is soft cover. Rediculous.

Oooh, this is news I'm happy about. Not read the books since the NJO ended, but I loved Aalston's X-Wing stuff. Starfighters of Adumar was my favourite.
I tried it and Issards Revenge but couldn't get into them.

Since the launch of Fate Of The Jedi every single new Star Wars novel is in hardcover. Like comics they are trying to offset the price increase by making each novel an "event" so we are getting stories that were otherwise taboo like the Empire's back story and Revan's final fate.
This is a one off though. I assumed it would be paperback. Most of the expanded universe is good and written better than lucas could dream. The x-wing series has more compelling characters than any he created for the prequals. I wish they would adapt the xpanded universe as a movie line
