one of my co-workers today was showing off his brand new tattoo that is HUGE and covers almost all his arm. Its a giant cross with the his, his wife, and his daughters name in Hebrew.
I asked him what made him chose Hebrew since well, he's latino and its obviously a Christian tattoo.
His response: Because that's the language Jesus taught in and the language of the gospels.
So me, with no control over my mouth in front of a bunch of people before I can stop myself: Uhhh..no he didn't and no its not. Jews at that time and area spoke Aramaic and Greek, the only people who spoke or wrote Hebrew were the small number of rabbis who studied the old testament, Torah etc. Even if Jesus would have known Hebrew he never would have used to it teach, since no one would have understood what he was saying and the Apostles recorded the Gospels in Greek.
Dead silence. He just looks shellshocked and crushed and pulls a "whatever"
Granted, no one really likes this guy, so a lot of people think its really funny.
